Amanda and I are headed out on Monday to start our cross-country drive to learn more about the internet, and lives based around it, so we've created a short video to kick it off!

We're looking forward to connecting with people around the country that share a similar frustrating/liberating experience with the web--let us know if that is you!

  1. Wow. This is interesting. Internet has made my life possible in the most important way: by keeping in touch with my husband who was deployed. He's on a submarine, and doesn't have internet on a regular basis when out to sea. They simply have small communication once every week or so where emails are transmitted. But when they pull in to a foreign place, the internet has been our salvation. Thank you Skype! Thank you gmail and facebook and most importantly... THANK YOU INTERNET! Without it, my husband I wouldn't have spoken for 6 solid months. Having had cancer at the time (earlier this year), speaking to him via the internet was my saving grace.

  2. Thanks for sharing your story! This is definitely an important way the internet has shaped so many people's lives-- when starting this blog I hadn't considered the military aspect of it yet, so it's great to hear from you. I'm sorry, though, to hear about your health problems, I hope you've improved, and I'm glad to hear your husband was able to be there (thanks to the internet!) to help you through it!
